康家一家住在广州西关老屋已经几十年了，康伯（龚锦堂 饰）、康婶（黄锦裳 饰）生了四个儿子，分别是祁光（苏志丹 饰）、祁宗（郭旭 饰）、祁耀（彭新智 饰）和祈祖（徐若琪 饰），四个儿子最近都结婚了，老大阿光娶了个河南姑娘（丁玲 饰）、老二阿宗娶了个本地姑娘（虎艳芬 饰）、老三阿耀娶了个上海姑娘、老四阿祖更厉害，娶了个德国姑娘（郝莲露 饰）。这下一屋子天南地北的人全集齐了，各地文化在此交融，地域、文化间的隔膜在这一大家庭里闹出不少笑话，康家几乎每天都是生活趣事。
姜铁山（张铮 饰）武功高强，名震北方，某日，有人找他托镖，恰逢铁山有事外出，铁山的女儿姜文英（米雪 饰）和妻子苗玉娘（郭锦华 饰）便决心替他走一趟。那晓得一行人途中遭遇了劫匪，玉娘身负重伤，文英则被歹徒掠走，不知所踪。 姜铁山得知此事怒上心头，南下寻找文英，于偶然之中结识了南派高手容沧海（董镖 饰），误会之下两人大打出手。一场意外让姜铁山身陷囹圄，将被择日问斩，就在此紧要关头，容沧海出手相救。最终，姜铁山明白了容沧海的良苦用心，两人结为挚友。容家人被大太监利用，最终大难临头，就在容沧海家破人亡之际，姜铁山决心与他联手，铲奸除恶。
